The trenches now have a shady covering for the dig teams, the geotextile has been removed and the trenches have been revealed and cleaned. So now it is down to the important task of learning the recording system used on site. A thorough explanation of the context sheets preceded the eagerly anticipated site tour in which all members of the excavation were treated to an in-depth tour of Trenches H, M, N and P. Professor Douglas Baird, Director of the Boncuklu Project took the tour and explained the historical background to the site and its significance in relation to other Neolithic sites in Central Anatolia. Now that all team members have been acquainted with the archaeology we will be dealing with over the next seven weeks, it is time to dig!
