Just before the Ramadan holiday the newly formed Boncuklu Gelengi football team (see below) faced off their bitter enemy the Çatalhöyük Bulls. Captained by Gökhan Mustafaoğlu, the Gelengis went down 24-8 to a team filled with ringers who adopted unfair, dubious tactics – like practising before-hand and taking the game seriously. The Gelengis sported dashing new t-shirts designed by Durham student Li Sou which will be this year’s official BK T-shirt logo. Needless to say plans are afoot for a return game on Hayıroğlu’s hallowed earth at the Gelengi Arena, where home advantage will include roaming packs of dogs, drive-by tractors and pitchside tezek heaps.
