The photograph and its date
The original project post was published on 6 September 2015. It describes a team photograph taken on 4 September during the final trench-summary tour of that season, in Trench P above Building 21. The record is preserved in an archived snapshot captured on 23 September 2023.
These dates have different meanings: one identifies publication, one the moment described in the caption and one the archive capture. None identifies the current research team or a new excavation programme. The original caption is evidence for its own event, not a basis for assigning names or present-day roles to everyone pictured.
What a field photograph can show
A team photograph records a particular gathering and place. It can help connect excavation history with the people who carried out the work. It cannot, on its own, show the complete team across all seasons, explain every person’s responsibilities or establish who is available for current enquiries.
The season-end tour mentioned in the historical notice belongs to 2015. The project’s final excavation season later took place in 2022, followed by study in 2023. Follow the research timeline for that wider sequence and the people page for public institutional contacts.
